Gothic Weapons of the Gothic Tribes

Image
The Weapons and Formations of the Germanic Tribes The Germanic tribes were also called the Teutonic peoples. They had a spear, which was the most common form of weapon among the peoples. They also had the two-headed axe, along with the sword (only for upper classmen). The spear was so common among the people because it they allowed a relatively small quantity of the rare and expensive metal for the part of the blade that needed it. It was cheap compared to the sword of equal reach. Other weapons they had were the javelin, the sling, bows/arrows, and staff sling. The cost factor for bows and arrows was put into place mainly because of the cost of the arrows, not so much the bows, once again because of the price of metal. The formation that they fought in were the wedge-shape formations. These formations most noticeably consisted of cavalry (on the flanks). The Germans were most afraid of the Plains of Hungary, where the Marcomanni, Saxons/Angles, Alamanni, and Franks all presided.

Sons of all three were held in Diocletian's palace in Split, Croatia. (FV & ER) (source of image) Constantine was born in 280 in Naissus b By the age of 9 he had to separate from his parents. Constantine got sent to Diocletian’s palace in Nicomedia (called Spilt nowadays). He was held as a hostage but he got a good education, learning Latin literature, Greek, and philosophy. He was always more interested in Latin than in Greek. At the time he was staying at Diocletian’s palace, he witnessed the Christian persecution around 303 AD. He also went into war with him in Egypt. First part is Faith, then Lola, then Erik, and finally Johnny. Helena’s Relationship with Constantine By Faith Vandenberg Constantine , according to tradition, was greatly influenced by his mother Helena in his choice to convert to Christianity. Although many legends are about his conversion that may or not be true, it is almost without question that Helena’s beliefs were a major factor in Constantine’s decision. Helena was greatly honored by Constantine. Constantine openly showed his love and deep appreciation for her in his reconstruction (renovating) of Helena’s hometown, Drepanum. He later renamed it “Helenopolis” (meaning City of Helen”) and gave Helena the title of Augusta . As you can see, dear reader, Constantine stayed true to his beloved mother
